How Much Does a Business Website Cost in India
9 September 2026 · 4 min read
A business website in India typically costs under ₹1 lakh for a template-based brochure site, ₹2 lakh to ₹6 lakh for a custom-designed B2B site built to generate enquiries, and ₹6 lakh or more when it includes custom functionality such as client portals, calculators or integrations. What moves the price is content, design depth, functionality and the care taken over search and conversion.
The three tiers
| Type | What you get | Indicative range | | --- | --- | --- | | Template brochure site | 5 to 10 pages on a purchased theme, basic contact form | Under ₹1 lakh | | Custom B2B site | Custom design, 15 to 30 pages, service pages, case studies, blog, SEO and tracking | ₹2 lakh to ₹6 lakh | | Site with web application features | Client portal, pricing calculator, booking, CRM or ERP integration | ₹6 lakh and above |
These are planning ranges for professional work, not quotes.
What drives the price
Content
Content is the most underestimated cost. Service pages, case studies and about pages need writing, and good B2B copy needs someone who understands your business. If you supply finished copy, the price falls; if the agency writes it, expect it to be a significant part of the budget and worth it.
Design depth
A template adjusted with your colours is quick. A custom design system, with page layouts created for your content and brand, takes longer and usually converts better.
Functionality
Each custom feature adds cost: multi-step forms, calculators, gated downloads, portals, multilingual content, or integrations with your CRM and email tools.
Platform
WordPress with a theme is quickest for simple sites. Modern frameworks such as Next.js cost more upfront for simple sites but less for sites with custom features. See Next.js vs WordPress.
Search and conversion work
Keyword research, page structure, metadata, schema markup, speed optimisation and conversion tracking. Skipping these makes a site cheaper and much less useful.
Ongoing costs
- Domain and hosting: usually a small annual amount for business sites.
- Maintenance: updates, security patches and small edits. Often a monthly retainer.
- Content: new blog posts, case studies and page updates keep a B2B site ranking and relevant.
How to compare website quotes
Quotes for the "same" website can differ several times over. To compare them fairly, ask each agency to state:
- Number of unique page designs, not just total pages. Ten pages built from two templates cost far less than ten custom layouts.
- Who writes the content, and how many rounds of revision are included.
- What SEO work is included: keyword mapping, metadata, schema, redirects from the old site.
- Which integrations are included: CRM, email marketing, WhatsApp, analytics.
- Testing: which browsers and devices.
- Training and handover: how your team will edit the site.
- What happens after launch: warranty period for defects and the cost of ongoing support.
Put the answers in a table. Most price gaps turn out to be scope gaps.
What a cheap website usually leaves out
- Proper redirects when replacing an old site, which protects rankings.
- Mobile testing across real devices.
- Speed optimisation and image compression.
- Analytics and conversion tracking.
- Accessibility and security basics.
- Source files and admin access in your name.
Each omission costs more to fix later than to include at the start.
How to budget
Work back from value. If one new client is worth several lakh to your business, a site that reliably generates a few qualified enquiries a month justifies a serious budget. If the site is mainly a credibility check for referrals, a smaller investment is reasonable.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a business website take?
Template sites take two to four weeks. Custom B2B sites typically take six to ten weeks, with content as the usual bottleneck.
Should we pay monthly or once?
Both models exist. Paying once for the build and separately for maintenance keeps ownership clear.
Do we own the website?
You should own the domain, hosting account, design files and code. Confirm this in writing before starting.
Can we update the site ourselves?
Yes, with a CMS. Ask for training and a short guide as part of the project.
